Trip Planner
Being prepared for an upcoming fishing trip is essential to having a safe, successful and enjoyable day on the water. Here are some things to consider when preparing for your guide trip with Roanoke Angler.
What to expect
Typically trips will meet at 8 a.m., although some days will require an earlier start. A full-day trip will run eight hours, with a half-day lasting four hours. Your guide’s goal is to cater the day to your expectations—so let him know if you’re a hardcore angler interested in hunting a trophy, or a beginner wanting to learn the basics and catch some fish along the way. Trip locale will depend on water levels and TVA release schedules.
What is included
Every guide trip includes all the necessary terminal tackle and gear. Your guide will have all the essential rods, reels, flies, waders and boots ready for your day on the water. Full day trips include lunch and beverages. Transportation is not provided to and from the river. Guests will meet the guide at a designated rendezvous. Please keep in mind, fishing licenses and gratuities are NOT included in the trip rate.
What to bring
When packing for your trip there are some key items to include. The first is a valid fishing license for the state, body of water and species you will be pursuing. Other checklist items include—weather-appropriate clothing (check where you will be fishing), extra layers, rain coat, sunglasses, hat, wool socks, sunscreen, medications, camera, sense of adventure and a good attitude.
